Hello!  My name is Samantha Barra and I am the Director of the West Carroll High School Concert Choir. I also teach Music Appreciation, Music Theory, Drama I, and Intro to Drama and Theater as well as Choir and Music Appreciation at West Carroll High School.

I am a graduate of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a Bachelors degree in Music Education with a Choral Emphasis. I am an active member of the American Choral Directors Association and most recently was the secretary of my branch. I am passionate about music and theater and believe every student should have the opportunity to be a part of the performing arts if they desire.
This year, along with the curricular choirs, Jazz will be meeting before school on Wednesdays from 7:15-7:50 and new to West Carroll is Storm, the women's a cappella group. These students rehearse on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:15-4pm.
It is my goal for your student to experience a variety of music from a range of time periods and cultures. It is never my intention to impose any belief system or ideology, just an appreciation for the music of our history.
