Bike-A-Thon to Raise Money for Honor Flights
Gary Metivier Visits
Our 4th grade students biked or walked to raise money for the QC Honor Flights on Monday May 9th. The kids worked very hard and were outside this morning biking/walking for 3 ½ hours. Each bike lap was approximately .8 of a mile. Our lead bikers made it around 43 times which comes close to 35 miles.
What is the Honor Flight? Check out this link. There is no cost to the WWII Vet for the Honor Flight – it is all covered by donations. Our kids are taking part of honoring our Vets who fought for our freedom. Many of the Vets that came and talked with our 4th graders had been on an Honor Flight and their stories were fascinating. If you ever get a chance to speak with a WWII Vet, please take the time to listen.

Wax Museum April 7th
Fourth grade students at West Carroll Intermediate School in Thomson presented the 3rd Annual Wax Museum on Thursday night, April 7. This was a night when history came alive in Carroll County. The students were the stars of the evening and did a fantastic job of presenting their characters. The door donations, as well as, bake sale money was all raised for the West Carroll Education Foundation. The total raised was $572 dollars. Congrats to all of the fourth graders at WCIS for their hard work and contribution to WCEF.
Each student drew a name of a famous person and then did research about his/her person. We then tried to think of costumes or props for the famous person. Visitors pushed a fake button and the wax person ‘came alive’ and told about themselves. The museum was open to the public.
