WCHS Madrigal Choir

The West Carroll Choir performs multiple times throughout the year, including at WC's winter and spring concerts. Individuals or small ensembles have the opportunity of singing in front of judges at IHSA Solo & Ensemble Contest, and the choir as a whole competes in the spring at the IHSA Organizational Contest. Not only does WC have a mixed choir with all of the singers in it, but there is also a Jazz Choir, and a men's choir and a women's choir for contest. This winter, Mr. Mattison even organized a "Madrigal Tea" event, where a large crowd came and enjoyed wassail (cider) and pie while listening to the Christmas songs sung by the Jazz Choir. Students have several opportunities to advance their singing talents by auditioning for the IMEA Concert Choir or attending the Upstate Illini Music Festival by selection of their director. The WC Choir is often known for mixing things up a little by throwing in a song or two that are "unusually exceedingly peculiar, and all together quite impossible to describe" (in a good way).
