West Carroll Band

Marching Band

Jazz Band
Marching Band takes place in the fall and performs the half-time shows for home football games. The crowd always thoroughly enjoys the performances, which have a different theme each year. The theme of 2008 was "The Greatest Hits of Queen," including songs such as "Bohemian Rhapsody," "Crazy Little Thing Called Love," and more. The Marching Band also performs during the Homecoming Parade in Savanna, the Melon Days Parade in Thomson, and Savanna's Memorial Day Service.
Pep Band takes place during the winter and performs at the home boys' and girls' basketball games. Their wide-ranged repertoire is almost guaranteed to include some of your all-time favorite hits, and it always gets everyone pumped up for the game. Also, the West Carroll Pep Band already has a strong reputation. In the four years that West Carroll has existed, they've proven to be one of the top bands in the state. In WC's second year, they placed second in the state and got the opportunity to perform at the IHSA State Boy's Basketball Elite Eight games.
Concert Band takes place in the spring and late winter. They compete at the IHSA Organizational Contest in April by playing three music selections. They also perform for the community at the WC's winter and spring concerts and at the high school graduation. Concert Band always encourages students to go above and beyond with their talents in multiple ways. Not only does Mrs. Bressler challenge them with difficult parts for contest, but sometimes a select number of students are chosen to attend events such as the WIU Honor Band or the Upstate Illini Music Festival. Students also have the option of auditioning for IMEA. If they are selected to play for the IMEA Regional Band, they can audition again and try to advance to the IMEA All-State Band. WC has sent students to All-State every year.
Jazz Band is an optional band course that takes place throughout the school year. They also compete as a group at the IHSA Organizational Contest and perform at the winter and spring concerts. Jazz Band plays a wide variety of jazzy styles such as swing, shuffle, bossa nova, and more.
